Ever since I was young being strong and having muscle was always important to me. As a little girl I loved any cartoon where the hero was the conqueror once he grew some muscle – think Popeye the cartoon character. Yes, I’m that old- or the old Cheerios cereal commercial where after eating Cheerios you pop out a bicep pose with a round Cheerio in the middle of the muscle. I seriously believed this would happen to me if I ate Cheerios. .
One day my dad showed me a science magazine where a tablespoon of peanut butter was equal to the amount of protein in a certain measure of fish. Groundbreaking nutrition facts for the early 60s” I guess. .
.
But the things you remember as a child help you understand who you are today. .
.
My favorite part of Archie comic books (besides the love triangle between Veronica, Archie and Betty) was the story on the front page where the skinny guy gets the sand kicked in his face by the big muscular bully. So he runs off with his head down in shame, starts to lift weights and comes back all buff himself and kicks the #*% out of the bully. .
All silly stories I know but I love finding the connection to who I am and what I do now. .
Somewhere between childhood and my older years I forgot who I was – life got busy and like so many others I became a mother, wife and loving caretaker of others. It’s easy during that stage to forget who you are, what your dreams were and what you want for your life. So connecting back to that part of me helped me to remember that I’m right where I should be. .Helping women not to forget about their hopes and dreams – and guiding them towards achieving their fitness goals? ?? ??♥️
.
Does anyone else remember the story of the skinny guy? ,
